To whom much is given much is expected right??? Let us for a moment look at the scenario from another vantage point. Those that are on the receiving end of all of that giving are continually expecting more. Many people today are expecting the giving never to end whether its candy to a five year old or monetary handouts to that "friend" that only appears around payday. This brings up another adage of fishing.... Teach a man to fish and he can feed himself for a life time. We must give with a purpose and many times teaching is the best gift you can ever give.
So very true. As an educator, I see the effects of reckless and thoughtless giving to children. We are doing our kids a disservice when we give them the world and not instilling the value of hard work.
ReplyDeleteWonder if we can compare giving to sharing and have others understand the reciprocity of it all. The younger we start to impart that message, the more clear it becomes.
